About my practice.
I am a registered psychologist with specialised training in Schema Therapy, CBT and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy.
I have a holistic approach to therapy, which not only takes into account the issues you might be facing today but also considers your history, your family of origin and how past experiences might be influencing current ones.
Most of the time, our mental distress is the result of problematic coping strategies we use to deal with emotionally challenging situations. These coping modes can be in the form of procrastination, submissiveness, avoidance, bullying, lying, addiction, among many others. While some of these coping strategies can bring temporary relief, they tend to make situations worse, leading to increased mental health issues such as anxiety, depression and stress.
Much of the work I do focuses on re-learning healthier coping strategies, so that emotionally challenging situations can be dealt with openly and directly. This approach not only helps you with the issues you're facing now, but sets you up for meaningful and lasting change across many situations in your life.
Therapy can be a wonderful tool to bring about calm, clarity and fulfilment, and whilst it's not always easy, the reward is definitely worth the journey.
